Helium Ventures announced it has acquired Jitsu, an MIT-licensed open source customer data platform and Segment alternative that collects event data from websites, apps and servers and delivers it to data warehouses and business tools in real time. Jitsu was founded in 2020, went through Y Combinator’s Summer 2020 batch and raised $2 million in seed funding led by Costanoa Ventures with Y Combinator, The House Fund and SignalFire. The announcement says the pace of feature releases has increased since the acquisition, with expanded production self-hosting, new enterprise controls such as audit logs, expiring API tokens, maintenance mode and event reprocessing, and broader destination coverage, and Jitsu’s co-founder and CEO said Helium is investing in engineering, support and integrations while preserving the open-source foundation.
