OpenSSL advisory committee says Sovereign Tech funding is ending as it hunts a new backer

The OpenSSL Foundation's Business Advisory Committee agenda for September 2026 records that the project's Sovereign Tech funding is ending and that it is trying to find a new funder, and says separately that a testing project is coming to a close and is again looking for replacement funding. The same agenda lists a community vote on the OpenSSL conference, an effort to bring the issue backlog under 1,000 by routing help-wanted issues to the community and the rest to paid OpenSSL engineering resources, the merged DTLS 1.3 work, and a completed FIXNUM core implementation that still needs integrating with the algorithms.
