The Solus Project published a formal policy for AI and LLM use in contributions, saying AI-assisted code and package changes are allowed if the author tests them, adds an Assisted-by: LLM trailer when AI helped with code changes, and submits the work personally rather than through a bot. The policy bars AI-generated or partly AI-generated content from the project’s blog and other official communications, allows the tools there only for translation and formatting, and warns that deliberately hiding AI use can mean rejected contributions or being blocked from future participation. Solus says the rules draw heavily on Budgie Desktop’s AI policy, which in turn takes cues from Linux kernel and Fedora policies, and that as a small volunteer team it may revise them as circumstances change.
